I really donīt know whether we have accomplished Leash Manners Level 6, but as nobody answered my question, I think it will be all right … anyway, they behaved so splendidly with this other barking mad dog, I do not think it can get better. There is yet some work to do on the stays.

Tarik is nearly jumping out of his skin. He "helped" me with Happy training retrieve (one time just robbing the toy out of his mouth), and I thought it a good idea to do something complicated. I put on cones, and asked him to go around like he should do the weaving poles. He made it up to 4, running down and weaving through the cones, after the last one turning round, rushing down, wagging, and again…

I’ve been working a lot the last weeks, and I neglected a bit the training sessions. Tarik nearly exploded this morning when he understood that I was NOT leaving he house inmediately … he and Happy got both their "lazy morning chewing sick" (outside, thereīs quite a levante storm and even raining a bit), and I had to play with Tarik (tugging, hiding it under a blanket, retrieving, chasing him) before he would settle down and chew it. I know it sounds silly, but first, both of us have lots of fun with this silly game, and second, if I do not play with him, he just sits there, the chewing stick in his muzzle, and LOOKS at me. Up to 30 min, and then I just had to play with him. He got a bit of rest nd then, we started targeting … boah, that dog was so eager to do something, he raced back and forth like a boomerang. I think he would be a good flyball dog – fast sprint & perfect turns. He does not stop to paw the wall, he sort of paws it when he turns, like running up the wall when turning.

Itīs a rainy and stormy day. so i decided to to the Sit Stay / Down Stay at home. My father sat at the deak as controller, I put the dogs into the Sit / Down, went out and closed the door. My father watched the dogs and clicked when the time was over. I started with Tarik, but after the first round Happy volunteered and I did the rest with both of them together. Tarik needs a bit of distance to Happy, though, so I laid out two blankets on the floor (we do not have carpets and the floor is hard and cold).

Thought we might "test" our grooming session. I do not have a special grooming table, but I prepare the desk with a plastic table cloth etc. Then I do some brushing and cutting and clipping etc. Luckily, it all grows back!

I promised my doggies to do a bit of fungility today, and they I got lost working here … so I thought at least I could give them a nice training session, starting with Tarik. He is a miracle. We did scenting, starting with 1 out of 4 (3x, noe rrors), 1 / 5 (3x). With "1 out of 6", he had one,trying 4x. But then we tried 1/7, 1/8 and 1/9, 2x each, no errors. He sniffed every time nicely all of the sticks, sometimes twice, and then chose the right one. SO I gave it a try: 1 out of 12!!! Quit a row of sticks. He found it without problems, got his jackpot and wanted to do MORE.

I was cutting potatoes, Tarik came over and started a polite potatoe Zen. So I thought, letīs give it a try, and laid out 5 sticks, one "me-scented". He rushed over and picked the scented one after sniffing all of them. He got his potatoe (peeled).

Iīm moving the chair with the attached paw target around. Sometimes I have to show him what I want him to do, it seems that sometimes he just canīt see it (distance up to 15 ft). When I walk over and touch it, then back up gain and ask him, he runs over and paw-touches it.

I build up the scenting again, hiding a treat under the lovely new rubbwer bones. I hat three tries this way, no errors, then took the treat away. Bingo, Tarik quitted the idea of retrieving all of them and just indicated and brought the "me-scented" over. Maybe, I should do this with every new object I want to use in scenting, so he wonīt get confused.

As he was so good at testing the formal recall, I tried a Drop as well. He was splendid, going down in a fluid, fast motion and getting up and running to me like the wind.

We were playing frisbee and I thought, hey, why donīt do a test and show my father a really good recall? So I put clicker, toys etc away, took my whistle and WOW! Super recalls!!
