We tried the metal retrieve, but I need to work on that some :-(. Did level 7 instaed – anything but metal he will retrieve all day. He now can "wait" while I throw the article – a major step forward! – Good boy Tried the drop on recall but he downed too late to pass. His finishes ae getting really nice and I will test these in a few days.

This is our level 7 "trick" – a freestyle routine. The venue was a huge exhibition fair. The freestyle was done in a semi-open marquee with lots of distractions. the judge was Donelda Guy from the Channel Islands. Chippy got his Beginner title for WCFO (2 days, 2 qualifications). The routine starts with him being pushed in a pram, giving me a "kiss", jumping out, a circle of (fast) heel, followed by a "front cross" and a circle in right side (fast) heeling, front cross into front (follow handler). A quick "down" and a roll over and then onto "put foot" (aka "wall touch")and "pushing the pram". I then starddle him and he backs out behind me. Sequence of "criss" (perpendicular across front of handler – dog moves forward, handler moves sideways), 1 x through legs to change to "cross" (as criss but mirror image). Followed by fast seuqence of 5-6 twists and into weaves (never counted, but probably about 12). Into right/left/right heeling sequence with a "back cross type" change over, jump into the pram, turn around and sequence of paw touches followed by both paws touch and standing up on back legs. The last one was hard for him to differentiate between 1 x paw touches and remaining seated and both paws and up on his back legs, but we got it :-).

WOW! What a weekend.

we attended the biggest pet expo in Souh Africa. All indoors, with 3 display/competition arenas running cuncurrently, lots of stalls and of course lots of people and dogs.

Both dogs had a huge learning curve over the past 3 days. We managed to get some training in and even a test or 2. Conditions were very tough, so whatever tests they actually "passed" is a great achievemnt in anybody’s books.

Did a down stay while hiding the articles for the lev 7 scent test. Not very good :-(. Really need to do more stays and "low key" stuff with him.
